Nonlinear chalcogenide microresonators and microspheres are an ideal platform to explore nonlinear optical effects in a compact footprint. Chalcogenide glasses are particularly attractive, with high nonlinearities and long wavelength transparency. In particular, I will discuss two exciting recent developments – high quality factor chalcogenide microresonators and a high performance nonlinear gyroscope. Cascaded forward Brillouin generation and photosensitive writing and erasing of gratings will also be described.
